Women in Male-Dominated Jobs

There is still an obvious difference between jobs that are meant for men and jobs that are meant for women. “In the United States, only 6.6% of women worked full-time in male-dominated occupations in 2017.” My girlfriend, who is a minority in her major, truly knows what its like to be a woman in a male-dominated industry. She is in construction management which contains roughly 105 people, yet there are only 6 girls in total. They offer incentives to and grab females attention, but many females wouldn’t want to go into this field because of discrimination, and it goes against their gender roles in society. Women still are not given the opportunities that men get in the work environment. Although their situation has certainly improved, men stilled dominate many of the higher end jobs. Women occupy lower paying, less strenuous jobs, like being an elementary school teacher. So, despite claims being made that women have gained all these amazing rights, I think people need to step back and look at the big picture and realize that things may not be as fair as they seem.
